Continuing education experts connect at national conference

CAUCE Annual Conference

Leaders in continuing education from across the country are meeting at the 2022 Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE) Annual Conference, May 25 to 27.

The 68th annual conference theme, Connections Matter: The Impact of Continuing Education (CE) on University Innovation, Collaboration, and Access, highlights the unique role of CE within the higher education sector. Continuing education connects universities at large to the communities that surround us. As we look to build healthier, stronger communities and meet the needs of the future of work, the role of CE is more important than ever.

“Working in CE requires innovative problem solving, entrepreneurial thinking, agile teams that respond to industry demand, and strong, diverse partnerships,” says Sheila Leblanc, Director, Continuing Education, University of Calgary and CAUCE president-elect. “I look forward to strengthening these partnerships with colleagues across Canada, so we can continue to deliver high-quality learning experiences for a variety of learners.”

“At the 2022 CAUCE conference, participants will explore the theme of connecting with learners, partners, workplaces, and our communities,” adds Brad Mahon, Dean, Faculty of Education, Mount Royal University and Co-Chair, Conference Planning Committee. “The annual conference is the leading CE event in Canada for sharing our knowledge and expertise.”

Held online this year, the conference will feature presentations, panel discussions, and keynote speakers on topics such as new economic realities, social issues, the global pandemic, increased demands for learner pathways, emerging micro-credentials, and changing industry trends.

Approximately 200 people will attend from CAUCE member institutions, including Western Continuing Studies, University of Calgary Continuing Education, and SFU Continuing Studies, as well as educational partners such as University Affairs, the authoritative source of information for Canada’s university community.
