Reimagining Continuing Education in 2021

CAUCE Annual Conference & Meeting, May 25 - 27, 2021

The CAUCE annual conference and meeting brings together more than 400 professionals from across Canada to share best practices and spark ideas for innovation and improvement in university continuing education (CE).

In recent years, CE has re-emerged as central to the future of higher education. Social reconciliation, shifting student needs, and a recovering economy have the higher education sector standing on moving ground. Universities are being challenged to be nimble now more than ever before. CE has much to offer in response including processes grounded in real world realities and needs; a greater flexibility than core university programming; and deep connections within communities and groups that comprise the fabric of Canadian society.

The work being done by teams at CAUCE member institutions, including Western Continuing Studies and McMaster University Continuing Education, to bring CE to the forefront is critical at this time in Canadian life.

“As a long-time member of CAUCE, the University of Calgary is grateful to be a part of a community that promotes diversity, collaboration, and lifelong learning on a national scale,” emphasizes Sheila Leblanc, Director, Continuing Education, University of Calgary and CAUCE president-elect. “As we set out to reimagine the role of CE in higher education, I look forward to working with other CE units across Canada to help improve, innovate, and build upon our work.”

“Participants in the 2021 CAUCE conference can look forward to sharing ideas, innovations, and insights, and supporting one another in responding to the evolving needs of students and industry,” adds Brad Mahon, Dean, Faculty of Continuing Education, Mount Royal University and Chair, Conference Organizing Committee.

Through guest speakers, panel discussions, conference presentations, and workshops, attendees will engage with others to gain professional inspiration and practical guidance to strengthen and develop their expertise.

This year’s conference CAUCE conference will be held online from May 25-27, 2021.
