New director at the University of Regina

Centre for Continuing Education, University of Regina

Congratulation to Ms. Christie Schultz, the newly appointed Director of the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Regina.

Prior to joining the University of Regina community, Ms. Schultz served as the Assistant Dean (Academic) at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension. In this role, she led the Faculty’s continuing education (CE) portfolio as well as its Learning Engagement Office (LEO), a team of eLearning specialists and instructional designers who share her commitment to high-quality, accessible, innovative, and learner-centered education.

Having joined the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension in 2008, first as an instructional designer and then, from 2009, as executive director of LEO, before taking on the role of Assistant Dean (Academic) in 2014, Ms. Schultz has spent the past decade building experience and expertise as a leader in continuing education. Actively involved in the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE), she currently serves on the national executive as the representative for Western Canada.

Before coming to the field of continuing education, Ms. Schultz worked in the world of web communications and strategy. She holds an MA in English as well as an MBA in public policy and management, and is nearing the completion of a PhD in educational policy studies from the University of Alberta. Her scholarly interests include experiences and practices of leadership in higher education, care ethics in leadership, and qualitative research methodologies, especially narrative inquiry.

Ms. Schultz looks forward to working with everyone at CCE and the University of Regina to continue to build upon the strengths of CCE’s contributions to the university, the city of Regina, and the province of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Harvey King will be remaining with the University of Regina as a Faculty member in the Economics Department.
