Calling all creative CAUCE members!

CAUCE is looking for a new visual identity and is seeking help from our membership. We are looking for inspired community members who can design a creative, innovative, and professional logo to help promote the CAUCE mission: Working in the spirit of advancing learning and workplace readiness in 21st Century Canada, CAUCE is dedicated to supporting the success of our members in serving professional and adult learners and diverse learning communities; we foster best practices in lifelong teaching and learning, flexible learning models, including online learning, and university community engagement.

Please read below for more details regarding logo design, contest rules and submission requirements.

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST

The contest begins on January 21, 2019. Submissions will be accepted through March 8, 2019. Winners will be contacted directly, and the selected entry will be announced through the CAUCE listserv, website, and Twitter.

All entries must be:

  1. Submitted directly to the CAUCE Secretariat though the Official Entry Form.
  2. Submitted as a high-resolution pdf with 300 dpi or higher. If your submission is selected as a winner, you MUST be able to provide a high-resolution vector file (e.g., in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign).
  3. Maximum file size is 10 MB.

To enter the CAUCE Logo Renewal Competition, eligible participants must:

  1. Complete the Official Entry Form
  2. Create a logo design
  3. Describe the symbolism behind your logo design

LOGO REQUIREMENTS

Professional: We are looking for an eye-catching, recognizable, legible design. The logo will be featured on all CAUCE communications and various digital and print mediums including our website, social media platforms, and on stationary, brochures, merchandise and other visual collateral.

Theme: Logo must promote the mission of CAUCE and its strategic priorities: community engagement, promotion of an enhanced understanding of best practices, professional development, partnerships, and sustainability in management and operations.

Colour: There are no limitations; any colours may be used. However, the logo must look good in colour, black and white, greyscale, and reverse treatments.

Integrity: Logos cannot contain copyrighted material. Logos must have been created and edited by the contestant(s). Logos may not include images or licensed images. Must be easily reproducible and scalable for large and small formatting.

CONTEST RULES

  • To be eligible, each entrant’s institution must be a current member or affiliate member of CAUCE
  • Individuals or teams may submit no more than three entries (a separate Entry Form must accompany each submission).
  • All submitted work must be the original work of the entrant(s) and must not include, be based on, or derived from any pre-existing or third-party designs, trademarks, or copyrighted images. 
  • All entries will become the property of the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that any and all intellectual property rights in the logo design are deemed assigned to the association.
  • An entry submission into this competition constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, institution, prize information, and information provided on the entry form for publicity purposes, without further permission or compensation.
  • The CAUCE Secretariat mayalter, modify or revise the logo as deemed necessary to achieve the goals of the association.
  • The selected winner MUST submit a scalable vector version of the winning design so that it is adaptable to electronic and print media, to reproduction on small and large surfaces, and to use in color or in grayscale. 

SELECTION

The CAUCE Communications Committee will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria:

Relevance – Does the entry align with the theme and mission of CAUCE? 

Originality – Does the composition exhibit original design, creativity, and imagination? 

Aesthetic Quality – Is the submission eye-catching and command attention? Does it display visual balance and color coordination? Do all the elements work together to create a unified and appealing design?

Adaptability – Is the design conducive to scaling of logo to accommodate different treatments (i.e. electronic application, letterhead, various types of marketing materials, etc.)?

  • The top three entries will be considered by the CAUCE Executive Committee.
  • CAUCE reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
  • The selection will be final.

PRIZE

The selected entrant will receive a free registration to the 2019 CAUCE annual conference (as well as bragging rights!) The prize is transferable to anyone from the submitter’s institution.
