CANCELLED - Exploring the Changing Needs & Expectations of Continuing Education Students: Focus on Indigenous Students

CANCELLED

Since the June 2015 release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Final Report (TRC), much work still needs to be done towards understanding and actualizing reconciliation within post-secondary institutions.  Adhering to the TRC’s guiding principle which supports decolonizing education and Indigenizing curriculum content, the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) at McGill University is providing course lecturers with Indigenous cultural competency training in order to build their awareness and understanding of Indigenous history and culture.  In this aspect, SCS continues to work collaboratively with course lecturers towards including culturally-appropriate content in the design and development of courses within the Public Administration and Governance undergraduate certificate program.  The inclusion of Indigenous perspectives and building relationships with Indigenous communities is critical and continues to support the SCS to learn and provide an inclusive education for Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners.
