Mapping the Role of Generative AI in Curriculum Design – A Collective Exploration | PART 1
November 4, 2025 at 1:30 pm ET
As the landscape of higher education shifts, university continuing education practitioners are increasingly experimenting with generative AI to enhance curriculum design. Yet, the journey from experimentation to meaningful integration remains uncharted territory for many. This interactive session is designed to bring together curriculum designers and educators in continuing education to collectively explore how generative AI is reshaping our field.
We begin with a 10-minute overview that sets the stage for discussion, outlining the key ways generative AI is influencing curriculum development, from content generation to personalized learning pathways. But the heart of this session lies in engaged, practice-driven dialogue. In facilitated breakout discussions, participants will share experiences, concerns, and emerging practices, reflecting on how AI is being used, or could be used, to reimagine curriculum design.
Rather than prescribing solutions, this session embraces an exploratory, peer-driven approach, where the collective wisdom of practitioners takes center stage. What innovations have others tried? What barriers or ethical concerns are surfacing? Where do the most promising opportunities lie? The discussions will surface patterns, challenges, and questions that will shape our next session in December, where we will take a deeper dive into select themes that emerge from this initial conversation.
This session is open to all levels of AI experience, from those experimenting with tools like ChatGPT to those still contemplating where to begin. An accompanying resource made available before the session will provide foundational insights into AI’s role in higher education and continuing education, offering context for our discussions.
