In the evolving landscape of continuing education in Canada, student services are critical in distinguishing institutional value and relevance to diverse learners. This lightning round session explores three student services initiatives that highlight personalization, 24/7 responsiveness, and IT integration.
Dr. Jessica Denenberg, Director, Student Services at the York University School of Continuing Studies, will share the Student Services team’s integration of a custom-built AI tool designed to better support the needs of a diverse learner population, including implementation strategy, process adaptations, and emerging evaluation frameworks.
Anamaria Cardona, Associate Director, Student Success and Engagement at the McGill University School of Continuing Studies, will discuss the transformation of their Student Success Center from a distributed transactional model to a team-based, multi-channel approach that fosters connection throughout the learner journey.
Dr. Terumi Taylor, Director, Business Operations & Associate Registrar at the University of Calgary Continuing Education, will present on the revisioning and implementation of an integrated and dynamic student services contact flow designed to better support diverse learners and improve coordination across institutional units.
Dr. Derek Tannis, Associate Dean, Student Success and Enrolment Management at the McGill University School of Continuing Studies, will moderate the session and facilitate discussion on emerging foundations of student services renewal in the Canadian continuing education sector.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of both the rationale for and practice of substantive transformation in the continuing education sector.
