Indigenizing and Decolonizing Learning

April 16, 2019, 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm EST

In response to the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) has engaged in a variety of initiatives that bring its students, leadership, faculty and staff towards a place of understanding and collaboration.  In this webinar, the presenters will outline UNB’s institutional strategies that have evolved to honor the TRC recommendations,  and build a community of ‘Allyship’.   Specifically highlighting the work of the Continuing Education Unit and Faculty of Nursing, the presenters will highlight the tangible initiatives of their respective units and share the experiences of participants who have engaged in activities of Reconciliation.   While there are challenges to address in this movement towards ‘Reconciliation’,  the majority of participants have a greater understanding and adopt a personal responsibility of ‘Reconciliation’ in helping make the university a ‘safe space’ for Indigenous students, faculty and staff.
