Program Manager, School of Continuing Studies
Founded in 1959, York is Canada’s third largest university and is shaping the global thinkers who will define tomorrow. Launched in early 2015, and already one of the largest Schools in Canada, the new School of Continuing Studies has fast become a leader in innovation and design in higher education. The launch of the School represents the largest investment made in continuing professional education at any post-secondary institution in over two decades. With pioneering modern program designs, engagement of industry thought-leaders, and cutting-edge programs that meet our economy’s largest skill gaps, the School has stepped up to meet the needs of international and adult students as well as employers. Exponential growth in the last two years, and the development of a strong brand (recognized in the local, national and international markets), provides a solid base upon which to build.
The University is seeking a dynamic individual to provide leadership for a portfolio of continuing professional education programs. Reporting to the Director, Continuing Professional Education, and working with a team of education, instructional design, market research, student support, and administrative professionals, the Program Manager will lead the creation, design, development, management, and ongoing refinement of new and existing programs in online, blended and/or in-class formats.
As a Program Manager, you will develop relationships with professional associations and industry representatives, form and manage advisory councils to ensure programming addresses top employer needs, provide direction in the development of program curriculum to subject matter experts, instructional developers, and other vendors, hire and manage instructors, work with marketing staff and market the programs, ensure quality control, provide program-specific leadership to cross-functional team members, and develop and manage program budgets and enrolment forecasts.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a graduate degree in a relevant field (such as adult education, online education or business). If your degree is outside the field of education, a certificate, diploma or certification related to adult or online education is an asset. If you do not have a graduate degree, your degree and experience closely aligns with the role. With a passion to innovate and support employers and individuals to meet the needs of a rapidly changing employment environment, you bring six years of relevant experience in project management, developing and updating curriculum, managing programs, market research, marketing, supervising others, and managing financial aspects of your portfolio. You excel at clear communication and negotiation, have superior planning and time management skills, and pride yourself in excellent analytical abilities and decision-making. You bring a great sense of humour to all relationships.
